CE Challenge

Hi crafty friends,  I have one last Christmas share before the new year.

Today I decided to take on the Creative Embellishments Challenge..

Right after dinner I headed up to my craft room and completed a card and then finished a layout that has been sitting on my desk since before Christmas. yikes!

I kept them both fairly simple as I like to see my vision right away. (I know I know..patience...NOT!)

What inspired me for this card was the brick fireplace in the inspiration picture on the CE Blog.

I used heavy gesso with my brick stencil, a little red spray and some flowers..I am a big fan of CE chipboard so here I used the Braided Circle Frame to highlight my sentiment.

On the layout - again inspired by the season and the cozy fireplace in the inspiration photo on the CE Blog..

I used items from the December kit from Flying Unicorn along with a CE frame sprayed and tucked beside the picture.. I love this picture of my daughters snow covered boots that keep her cozy and warm and had to do something with it..(oops I see now it is crooked..will have to fix that..lol)

I sure hope I have inspired you to create and preserve your winter pictures.

Until next time....

take care, hugs
Shannon

Hi crafty friends....Its been a very hectic few weeks and I haven't posted in way too long.. Life and handmade projects have been keeping me very busy..

With Christmas upon us I thought I'd share a Prima frame I altered this past week. My inspiration came from seeing one done in The Inked Stamper by Dawn Pritchard. Her inspiration came from Frank Garcia..

I really enjoyed doing this project and will probably do another in the future.. I love the rolled paper effect.

To all of my family and friends both near and far. From my home to yours, we wish you peace, joy and happiness. May you be surrounded with love and memories this holiday season and throughout the new year. Merry Christmas everyone! Love and hugs to you all!

Happy Monday fellow crafters,

It's been a busy week getting ready for my first craft fair with my friend Jackie. Check out her craft page on Facebook. She makes beautiful signs, plates and wall decor. Jax From Scratch.

Today I am sharing a DT project for C Thru the Woods. I love Charlene's boy stamps. So cute and versatile for many occasions.

This time I did a page in my Art Journal. A gratitude page for my son. He is one of the lights of my life that I am thankful for everyday.

For this page I used the Michael large stamp. Lindy Stamp Gang sprays and stamping for texture.

Hope you like my page and that it may inspire you to create a thankful project!

Until next time have a craft week.

OUAS November Challenge

Good morning crafty friends...

Looking a lot like winter out there this morning..Snow overnight again and its chilly sitting at -16..brrrr..cranking the heat up ;)

Today I am sharing a layout for OUAS November Challenge

This layout is for me..A reminder to be strong and to take time for just me..I rarely scrap pictures of myself because I'm always behind the camera..

I used papers and embellishments from the November Kit at Flying Unicorn. So soft and pretty I felt they fit perfectly with this photo. This is the first layout in a long time where there is no mixed media..No stencils, stamps, molding paste, sprays..NOTHING but layers on this one.

This sketch called for Journaling. I did mine on the back of the layout..

I hope you like it and that it may inspire you to scrap with the basics..

Until next time..keep warm

Hugs Shannon :)

My Big Announcement

Good morning crafty friends... Its been a while since my last post, but have been extremely busy working on a few things..

And today I am finally able to share my awesome news with you all.

I am one of the newest DT Members for  C Thru the Woods Clear Stamps

You can also visit the blog http://cthruthewoods.blogspot.ca/  to see more creations by the other DT members..

With that being said and Halloween in just a few days I decided to do a quick tag as my first project using Drake

I created this tag by first stamping Drake on cardstock and coloring him with Derwent water color pencils and blending. Then of course fuzzy cutting him out.(not my favorite thing to do..lo ) Then covering it in gesso, then sprayed on some Lindy's, stenciled with gesso, and added more spray, then edged it with pink Gelato.

I love how he turned out.

Hope you  like him..Look for new projects weekly with these fabulous stamps.

Until next time..Happy crafting!

The weekend is coming to a close and a beautiful one it was. So warm here in Alberta with the leaves changes color and the smell of fall in the air. I love this time of year!

Today I spent most of my day in my studio/craft room.. Finished a chipboard mini album, a canvas and a artists palette.

Here are a few pics to end my week.

This is the mini album. Made from chipboard with an expandable binding. I used almost all Prima products on this and love how it turned out.

Hello crafty friends,

Just a short little share for me today...

Its a beautiful sunny day here in St. Albert.. awww to feel the heat of that blessed sun...

School is back in swing and we are finally getting into a routine.. My daughter attends a performing arts school and had her first "IMPROV" audition yesterday.. Keeping my fingers crossed for her.

My son has started another 3 month season of flag football. Last year for him and  then he moves on to tackle. So exciting for him..

Exciting things going on for me too..I have decided to submit a few projects for a spot on a DT.   I am really nervous about it as this will be the first time in all of my years as a scrapbooker to submit for anything. A little nerve racking to say the least but I am hopefull.. And as the saying goes... if at first you don't succeed...try try again..:)

Until next time..have a crafty kind of day

hugs
Shannon :)

Welcome to my place

Welcome to my first blog!

I decided it was time to join my bloggin' friends and all of the amazing talented artists, educators and DT members that inspire me everyday!

A place where I can share my thoughts, my life and my love of Scrapbooking and Mixed Media art.

Here's a little about me:

I am Shannon, daughter, friend and single mom of 2 amazing children, Makenzi 13 and Cameron 9.

I started scrapbooking when I found out I was pregnant with Kenzi. You know the pages, the ones where we cut up every picture into ovals and squares, used fancy cutting scissors and loads of stickers.

Well I (we) sure have come along way since the year 2000. So many fabulous companies supplying us with our addiction to paper and embellishments. What would we do with out them..

I stopped scrappin' in 2005 after moving and I had no desire or gumption to do anything.

Thankfully I was inspired again in January of this year (2014) when I received a mixed media canvas from my friend and fellow artist Melanni Partridge. It was just what my inner artist needed to get me going again.

New beginnings so to speak meant my space needed an overhaul. All of my crafting stuff had been packed away for 5+ years so I painted my studio/craft room, bought new shelving and a desk/workspace and I was off on the mixed media journey that I absolutely fell in love with.

I don't think I will ever be the same because of that canvas. And for that I thank my friend Melanni. :)

Here's the canvas

and here's a few pic of my craft space.
Duty calls back to work...

thanks so much for stopping in...See you soon
